Density
Density is mass per unit volume, commonly stated at a particular moisture content.
It helps estimate weight and gives a rough sense of how a species may feel in use. Boards from one species still vary.
Density is not hardness. A dense wood can respond differently to dents, screws and cutting tools than its density alone suggests.
