Rift-sawn
Rift-sawn wood is cut with growth rings meeting the face at an angle between flat and quarter sawing.
It is valued for straight, even grain and restrained ray figure. Producing it usually creates more waste than ordinary flat sawing.
Trade ranges differ, so inspect the end grain if orientation matters to the design.
