European cherry

European cherry is Prunus avium, the wild or sweet cherry native to Europe.

The wood is fine-textured, warm-toned and valued for furniture. Colour deepens with light and age.

It is distinct from American black cherry, Prunus serotina, which has its own colour and trade supply.
