Sapwood
Sapwood is the younger outer wood that carried water in the living tree.
It is often lighter than the heartwood and can create a strong colour border, especially in walnut. Its durability may also differ from the darker centre wood.
Sapwood is a normal part of many slabs. Decide whether its colour and placement suit the project instead of treating it as a defect by default.
