Defects and features
A void is an open cavity or missing section within the visible wood.
It can come from a knot, decay, bark inclusion or irregular growth. Voids affect cleaning, strength and the amount of resin or repair work needed.
Check depth and what surrounds the opening. A shallow pocket and a hidden through-cavity need different plans.
