Janka hardness
Janka hardness measures the force needed to press a standard steel ball halfway into wood.
The value helps compare dent resistance between species. Test units and moisture conditions matter when comparing figures from different sources.
Use it with grain, density and finish choice. A high score does not guarantee stability or scratch resistance.
