Straight edge
A straight edge has been sawn or trimmed to a regular line.
It gives a predictable reference for joining, placing against a wall or setting furniture beside another surface. It may be parallel to the opposite edge or simply cleaned up.
Check usable width after straightening. Removing a waney or damaged edge can take more material than the listing width suggests.
