The Baofeng UV-5RM is a compact, rugged handheld two-way radio: a no-subscription way to keep a crew in contact across a yard, a worksite, or open country where mobile coverage runs thin. It builds on the long-running UV-5R platform with a brighter 1.77-inch colour display, USB-C charging, and a larger 2500 mAh battery for longer days between charges.
It transmits on the VHF, UHF and 1.25 m (220 MHz) amateur bands and offers wide-band receive, including the FM broadcast band and NOAA weather channels. With 999 memory channels, CTCSS/DCS tone squelch, dual-watch and a built-in LED flashlight, it is quick to set up and easy to live with. The SMA-female connector takes standard upgrade antennas, and the radio is fully programmable through the free CHIRP software with a compatible cable.
