European ash
European ash is Fraxinus excelsior, a pale hardwood with clear open grain.
It combines toughness with good bending properties and can show olive-brown heartwood in some trees. The contrast can become a design feature.
Do not confuse it with mountain ash, which can refer to unrelated rowan or eucalyptus species.
