Due Diligence Statement (DDS)

A DDS is the EUDR record an operator submits through the EU Information System before placing covered wood on the EU market, when the obligation applies.

What it means#

Under Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, a Due Diligence Statement is the EUDR declaration for a relevant product. When the obligation applies, it is submitted through the EU Information System, the EUDR/TRACES portal, and receives a reference number.

Why buyers care#

For wood, the DDS connects the product to due diligence on origin, legality, and deforestation-free status. Downstream buyers may need the reference number for their own records, but it is not legal advice or a quality grade.

What to check#

Match the DDS reference to the slab’s wood passport, invoice, species, country of production, and piece identifier. Check that provenance records are present before relying on the statement.
